Call for contributions

The call for contributions for LICK 2008 closed in August 2008 and this page is historical and for information only.

The LICK 2008 programme committee would welcome proposals for papers and participative workshops from educators, researchers, course developers, technologists, and staff developers tackling one or more of the conference themes.

Proposals for papers can include:

  • Reports on institutional projects and initiatives
  • Recently completed research or research in progress
  • Case studies in course design, development and facilitation
  • Informed speculation on future developments, trends and scenarios

Proposals for participative workshops should be focused around showcasing examples of good practice (e.g. of learning and teaching approaches, staff development, student support initiatives) or critical exploration of key issues, and provide opportunities for discussion, debate, group tasks, and other activities as relevant.

Proposals for papers and workshops that address the learner experience (i.e. through qualitative research, evaluation findings, the participation of learners either online or in person, or by some other means of providing a platform for the student voice) will be particularly welcome.

Papers will be presented in 30 minute slots (20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions). Participative workshops will run for 1 hour.

Proposals for papers and workshops should be submitted using the electronic Proposal Submission form by Friday the 29th of August.

Notifications of acceptance will be returned week beginning 8th September.

Authors of accepted workshop proposals will then be contacted by a member of the LICK 2008 team to discuss their plans and resource requirements.

Authors of accepted proposals for papers will be asked to submit their full papers (maximum 5,000 words including references) no later than Friday the 17th October. Please see the Format for Papers page for further information on the style guidelines to be followed.

Please note: workshop presenters are also welcome to submit a paper based on the theme of their workshop if they wish, and should follow this same guidance.

The proceedings for LICK 2008 will be published shortly after the event itself, as the intention is to feature thoughts and commentaries captured on the day itself alongside the accepted papers.
