For written work this entails ensuring that credit is given to the original authors of all source material and students are expected to demonstrate proper referencing practice in all their assessed work. Acquiring good referencing skills develops confidence in academic writing and helps prevent unintentional plagiarism. The University subscribes to TurnitinUK, the text-matching tool which is used to support acacdemic writing and to deter and detect plagiarism.
