The Postgraduate Certificate in Screenwriting is an eight-month blended learning course delivered by Screen Academy Scotland tutors at Edinburgh Napier University. The course combines online lectures, tutorials, discussions and exercises with attendance at three intensive face-to-face workshops. It runs from January to August 2010 and students will undertake three modules from Screen Academy Scotland’s highly-successful MA Screenwriting masters degree, specially re-designed for online delivery.

The course has a practical emphasis and consists on one module focussing on craft skills, screenwriting theory and the way that scripts and ideas are generated and developed in the film and television industry. Along with this, there are two practical screenwriting workshops where you will develop, write and deliver a ten and then a thirty minute screenplay.

The course is led by James Mavor, screenwriter and Programme Leader on the MA Screenwriting at Screen Academy Scotland. Your tutors will be experienced and active industry professionals. It’s designed to appeal to students who wish to develop their skills in dramatic writing for Film and Television and is ideal for those who wish to study alongside their work as part of their continuing professional development.

Students on the PG Cert will receive a FREE STUDENT PASS to the Edinburgh International Film Festival which runs from 16 - 27 June in 2010 with opportunities to attend screenings, masterclasses, networking and industry events.
